    FUMIGATION OVERVIEW

    Whole-Home Termite Fumigation in Sacramento

Whole-home fumigation is used when drywood termites may be living in multiple areas or inside wood that cannot be treated directly. The structure is enclosed under tarps, allowing the fumigant to move through framing, trim, attic timbers, and other concealed spaces.

Fumigation treats the enclosed building as a whole rather than only the areas where evidence is visible. The property must be prepared and temporarily vacated, then aerated and tested before anyone returns.

    FUMIGATION AT A GLANCE

    What Termite Tenting Involves

    01

    Whole-Structure Coverage

The fumigant moves throughout the enclosed building to reach drywood termites inside visible and concealed wood.

    02

    Temporary Vacancy

Everyone leaves the property during treatment and aeration. The expected re-entry window is provided before tenting begins.

    03

    Tested Before Re-entry

After aeration, the air is tested and the property is not released until a licensed fumigation professional confirms it meets the clearance standard.

    WHEN TENTING MAKES SENSE

    When Is Termite Fumigation Recommended?

Termite fumigation may be recommended for drywood termite infestations that cannot be reliably addressed within a defined treatment area.Arrange keys, gate codes, security alarms, and any required utility shutoff or restoration before leaving The recommendation is based on the distribution of the evidence, access to the affected wood, and the risk of leaving concealed colonies untreated.

    Drywood Termites Are Confirmed

Fumigation is used for drywood termites living inside the structure. It is not the standard treatment for subterranean termites because their colonies are in the soil.

    Evidence Appears in Separate Areas

Pellets, damaged wood, swarmers, or live termites found in different rooms, levels, or exterior sections can indicate that activity extends beyond one treatment area.

All Active Wood Cannot Be Reached

Localized treatment depends on identifying and accessing the infested wood. When some termite galleries cannot be found or reached, fumigation avoids limiting treatment to the visible evidence.
    WHAT TO EXPECT

How the Termite Fumigation Process Works

Termite fumigation cannot begin until the property is prepared and vacant, and no one can return until aeration and clearance testing are complete. The dates, access requirements, and expected re-entry window are confirmed before tenting begins.

    01

    Inspect and Confirm the Scope

Drywood termite evidence is documented and the affected structure is assessed to confirm that fumigation is the appropriate treatment.

    02

    Review the Fumigation Plan

Before you approve the work, we review the total price, preparation requirements, expected schedule, and 2-year warranty terms.

    03

    Set the Dates and Prepare

We confirm the tenting and anticipated clearance dates, provide preparation instructions, and answer your questions before the property is vacated.

    04

    Fumigate and Clear the Property

Licensed fumigation professionals tent and treat the structure, then complete the required aeration and clearance testing before re-entry.

    05

    Return to the Property

Once the structure is cleared, you can return at the confirmed time. Completion documentation is provided, and the 2-year fumigation warranty begins.
    BEFORE TENTING DAY

How to Prepare for Termite Fumigation

Before tenting day, everyone must be out, specified consumable products must be removed or bagged, and the fumigation crew must have access throughout the property. A missed preparation item can delay the service, so complete the checklist provided for your scheduled fumigation before the crew arrives.

    Arrange Where You Will Stay

Everyone, including children and pets, must leave before fumigation begins and remain out until the property is cleared. Take medications, clothing, work items, and anything else you will need while away.

    Prepare Food and Medications

Unsealed food, beverages, medicines, pet food, and other consumable products must be removed or placed in approved fumigation bags. Items still in the manufacturer’s original airtight seal may be handled differently, so follow the item list provided with your preparation instructions.

Remove Plants and Plan for Animals

Take indoor plants out of the structure and move exterior potted plants away from the tenting area. Requirements for aquariums, cages, and other animal equipment should be confirmed before the service date.

    Provide Interior Access

Bedrooms, closets, cabinets, storage rooms, attics, and other areas included in the fumigation must be accessible. Follow the provided instructions for doors, drawers, safes, and locked spaces.

    Clear Access Around the Structure

Unlock gates and move anything blocking the building perimeter. Branches, awnings, patio items, or plants touching the structure may need to be moved or trimmed so the tarps can be installed properly.

    Confirm Keys, Alarms, and Utilities

Confirm keys, gate codes, security alarms, and any required utility arrangements with the fumigation crew before leaving.

Ryan Fuller is so honest that he will give you the best advice for your situation and not his pocketbook. He could have made substantially more money by encouraging me to do ALL his recommended repairs and he did not. Instead, he advised me the best route for me financially and for possibly a quicker sale of my home. (Bottom line, he could've made $10k plus, and we are only doing $1,400 per Ryan's recommendation. Quite the savings I would say!) Honestly, his integrity and work ethic are superior, and I would highly encourage you to give him a call for all of your pest needs. He is very responsive and really works with your schedule. I truly can't give this guy enough kudos with all the help he has been through my home purchase and now a home sale. The home I bought needed quite a bit of work, including to be tented for wood boring beetles and sprayed for subterranean termites, and he saved me over $3,500 on that work! Really, he is a gem. I will refer no one else. Ryan is the man to call!

    Termite Fumigation FAQs

    Frequently Asked Questions

There is no flat fumigation price because the structure must be measured for treatment. Cost depends on the building’s volume, construction, attached areas, and access for tenting. The total price is confirmed before the fumigation is scheduled.

Most residential termite fumigations require occupants to be away for approximately 2 to 3 days from tent installation through clearance. The exact departure and re-entry times are confirmed for your property before the service begins.
You may return only after the licensed fumigator has completed aeration, tested the indoor air, and formally cleared the structure for re-entry. Tent removal alone does not mean the property has been cleared.
Special cleaning is generally not required after a sulfuryl fluoride fumigation has been cleared because the gas dissipates during aeration and does not leave a surface residue. Follow the instructions provided for the fumigant used at your property.
Yes. A properly performed whole-structure fumigation is designed to eliminate all drywood termites present inside the treated building, including colonies inside wood that cannot be reached directly.
Yes. Fumigation eliminates the termites present during treatment but does not leave a preventive barrier against future drywood termite activity. Periodic inspections can identify new activity before it spreads.
Yes, many homes with solar panels can be fumigated. The panel layout, roof access, conduits, and tarp placement must be reviewed before scheduling so any special preparation can be identified.
No. Fumigation eliminates termites but does not restore damaged framing, trim, siding, or other wood. Fuller Termite can evaluate and quote the required repair work after the structure is cleared.
Yes. Completed fumigation work includes a 2-year warranty. The coverage terms and exclusions are reviewed before the service is approved.
